Chocolate Sherpa Project: Chocs tasted for Nepal mobile hospital
(ThePoles.com/MountEverest.net) Louis-Philippe Lonke and his team reached their goal to distribute 100 kg Belgian chocolate at Everest Base Camp and to raise awareness for the necessity of a mobile hospital in Nepal.
Katmandu to Everest Base camp
The team started trekking from Katmandu to Everest Base camp in April. Along the way they distributed chocolate and talked to people about the need for a mobile hospital in Nepal.
Only Louis-Philippe and Joseph arrived at Everest Base Camp after walking for 20 days from Kathmandu. Norbet had al***ude sickness and had to turn back two hours from Base Camp.
Two days tasting
In two days Joseph and Louis-Philippe distributed 100 kg chocolate for tasting among the sherpas and climbers and presented the Nepal Mobile Hospital project. “Everyone agreed on the necessity of such a Hospital,” reported their home team.
Next few months
The trekking and chocolate tasting leg of the project is finished, but during the next few months the team will still focus on the project, “making the project known and also try to convince future expeditions in Nepal to raise funds for the Nepal Mobile Hospital,” they say on their website.
During April and May 2009 Louis-Philippe Lonke and his team will be trekking from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp to do a chocolate tasting with international mountaineers and Sherpas at 5350 m. Their aim is to raise money for a mobile hospital in Nepal. They plan to arrive at Base Camp on 2 or 3 May. 200 kg chocolates will be distributed along the 400 km route and 100 kg at BC.

Norbert Eggermont, 24, Belgian; photographer, cameraman, communications, diplomacy, translations and trekker.
Jeremy Roumain, 24, French, will coordinate the logistics from France.
Joseph de Mahieu, 18, Belgian; communications, cameraman, draughtsman and trekker.
