Rotary Club of Kogarah recently organised a fundraiser dinner at the Everest Tandoori Nepalese Restaurant. The event was held on 28th March 2009, saturday, and the main purpose of the event was to raise funds for Gift of Sight and School Building program in Nepal.
The Rotary Club of Kogarah has taken particular interest in humanitarian projects in Nepal following the visit of Past President Janice Reid and her generous personal support.
Proceeds from this fund raising event exceeded $1,700 as the event was generously supported by the attendees, local Nepalese community, and the local businesses that provided raffle prizes for the evening. The amount raised will go to the Gift of Sight program, in conjunction with the Fred Hollows Foundation and local Rotary Clubs in Nepal, performing sight restoring cataract operations. In addition to the Gift of Sight, the other half will go to equipping a school in Nepal, recently visited by Janice Hall, the ***istant Governor of Rotary District 9750. Janice showed slides of the school during the dinner.
The evening was a great success as the attendees enjoyed fine Nepalese style dining and the musical performances by the local Nepalese talents.
