Himalayan Youth Club wins Buddha Cup 17-05-09

This was an eventful day with Tamu Samaj Sydney celebrating Buddha Jayanti at the Wyatt Park, Lidcombe. The event started off with "puja" being done by Lama Priests.

A large number of crowd turned out for the "puja" and also to watch the Buddha Jayanti Cup which is a popular football tournament. There was food stalls organised which served special Nepalese vegetarian food.

Himalayan Youth Club (HYC) won the cup, the final of which was played against Gorkha Boys FC. In the first half GBFC scored the first goal. HYC scored a late equilizer to bring the game to a draw and to extra time. In the second half of the extra time, HYC scored the winning goal and shocked the spectators.

This was the first time GBFC faced defeat after their big win of the popular soccer tournament, the Gorkha Winter Shield. However, the tournament was very exciting and was entertaining.

Other programs at this event were, "Musical Chair" for the ladies and "T***u" for men.

hey tell us more about your Khukuri FC in NZ.. How often do you guys have matches there.. and how many teams do you guys have..

I think it would be a great idea to have a football match between Australia and NZ..

They should come to NZ to play the Khukuri F.C. here, we are quite good too!
