Jatra - Nepalese Restaurant
My friends and I went to this newly opened Nepalese restaurant called " Jatra " on Sunday last week. The restaurant only opened last week.
So, as we walked in, we were greeted by a staff to take a seat. We were welcomed by a smile and after we were seated and handed the menu, we advised him that we could have more friends coming in a bit later but we were not sure and asked him if we could later move to a bigger table if our friends did join us. Our friends did come in later and the staff member helped us move the tables.
After a short while, we ordered our meals and our evening was well spent. The reason for this article is that, I did enjoy my time there and thought I should share the experience with you guys.
The interior of the restaurant has very warm feel to it. It has very authentic Nepalese decors on the wall. Not too fancy, but not being too fancy was what I really liked about it. The seatings were very nice and comfortable, nice big chairs and spacious table to spread your food.
The food itself is good. There was nothing much to complain about any items that were brought out to our table. The meat in the goat curry was a little bit dry but I have found this to be the case in almost all the Nepalese restaurants I have been to in Sydney. The food was not very spicy but not too mild either. I had some Mo:Mo and Sekuwa for starters and as the staff member had recommended, the Sekuwa was good, again the meat just a little bit dry. It had that slightly burnt, smoky meat flavour which I really liked a lot. The food came out on time, all nice and warm.
The food was very reasonably priced and won’t leave a big hole in your pocket.
Besides the restaurant seating area, they also have a function area.
The best part was the hospitality. It was very friendly and the wait staff always recommending and explaining the food while you are still placing the order.
Final verdict: I do recommend to everyone to go and try the food at the Jatra at Crows Nest and also enjoy their friendly hospitality.
Openings: 5:30 till late, 7 nights.
Open for catering and functions and private parties onsite..
At the moment, they have Opening Specials 25% off until the 1st of September 2011 so grab the bargain when you still can.
Lastly, please do share your experience with us if you have been to this restaurant.
